I have been turned away twice now from my local Bakersfield, CA Social Security office because I do not have an appointment.

Q) I have been turned away twice now from my local Bakersfield, CA SS office because I do not have an appointment. There is nothing on your website to allow me to do so. I have gone to the local office 2 times, and they will not let me in without an appointment. How do I make an appointment if you do not offer a phone number to call or provide anything on your website? I was on hold on my phone today for 2 hours, and that is not an exaggeration. When I finally got through, I was told I had to make an appointment online. My ss card has been stolen & I cannot get through to anyone with whom I can make an appointment. I am VERY frustrated, and I think I am totally at risk because my SS card has been stolen. Please help me.

A) If you are having difficulty getting an in person appointment at your local Social Security Office you may be able to apply for a Replacement Card Online. You can use a my Social Security Account to apply online for a replacement Social Security card online if you are are a U.S. citizen age 18 or older with a U.S. mailing address, you are not requesting a name change or any other change to your card and you have a driver’s license or state-issued identification card from one of the many participating states or the District of Columbia.
