Commissioner may administer oaths and affirmations

Commissioner may deem necessary or proper for the administration of this title. In the course of any hearing, investigation, or other proceeding, the Commissioner may administer oaths and affirmations, examine witnesses, and receive evidence. Evidence may be received at any hearing before the Commissioner of Social Security even though inadmissible under rules of evidence applicable to court procedure.

  1. According to Social Security Administration website – You can check on your disability claim application status on line. This online service allows you to check the status of your completed retirement, survivor or disability application. Please allow 5 days from the date you originally filed your application before you use this service. https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/IAPS/applicationStatus
