How do you make a appointment at your local social security office?
Q) How do you make a appointment at your local social security office? I have the phone number but there is no option to make a appointment.
A) To make an appointment at your local Social Security office, you can:
- Visit the Social Security Administration’s website at www.ssa.gov.
- Click on the “Contact Us” button in the top right corner of the page.
- Click on the “Find an Office” button.
- Enter your zip code to find the nearest Social Security office to you.
- Click on the office name to view the office’s phone number and hours of operation.
- Call the office to make an appointment.
Alternatively, you can call the Social Security Administration’s toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213 to make an appointment over the phone. When making the appointment, be sure to have any necessary documents or information readily available, such as your Social Security number and the reason for your appointment.
If you do not want to apply for social security benefits online, or you need to speak with a social security office representative for any other reason, you can schedule an appointment by: Calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday or call your local Social Security Office.
I applied for my benefits in early Feb, as I turned 62 in Mar. It is now May 19th, and yet I still have not rec’d any benefits. I was told online that my application should take 4-6 weeks, not 4-6 months, now I have missed (2) months, and at over $2,000 a month, that’s $4,000. I wish to make sure that your slow approach to my application does not wind up costing me that $4,000, because that money is money I need and earned. I have tried to go see the local office and it was closed. I have called numerous times, and waited hours, and no one ever answered the phone. Who has the time to wait hours for a person to help? I am to understand that most of the SS employees at working out of their homes an no one is supervising their day to day activity? This is exactly what happens when no one is responsible to anyone. Why should they work on my application, they certainly won’t get into any trouble if they ignore my needs for months. Why not, it’s not as if I live across the street from the person who is not doing this job, because if we did, they obviously would perform more like the private sector, where responsibility is tangible, and not an aloof concept that is to be tried for, but never reached. I need my money, and please don’t make me hire an attorney because, they take so much time and money too. Please just get me and my family the money that is owed us ASAP, ALL OF IT. Thank you.
