My experience at New York City Social Security Office – Susan
Your Name (Can Be Anonymous): Susan
Your Experience: The wait was a bit long but it was well worth it.
Once we got to the window the gentleman who helped us was WONDERFUL! He knew exactly what to do in a situation we thought would be very complicated. We just needed to tell him what we planned on doing and he took it from there without any hesitation. He was a total gem! Everyone working there was VERY PLEASANT and VERY PROFESSIONAL starting from the guard at the door, to the professional at the window (for lack of a better term) and ending with the advisors in the office. We left feeling thrilled that we were able to resolve what we thought would be a never ending problem. So, it you don’t mind the wait, I truly recommend the Hyland Blvd. office if you want your issues taken care of by some of the best in the business!

According to the Social Security Administration – You can continue working and start receiving your retirement benefits. … You can get Social Security retirement benefits and work at the same time before your full retirement age. However your benefits will be reduced if you earn more than the yearly earnings limits. After you reach your full retirement age, SSA will recalculate your benefit amount to give you credit for any months you did not receive a benefit because of your earnings. They will send you a letter that explains any increase in your benefit amount.
